Les Engrammes: A fragrance collection created around what remains
At MAATHI, every creation begins with what remains.
The places we return to, the people we meet, the feelings we carry, and the moments that leave their imprint long after they have passed.
This philosophy first found expression through The Sea Remembers, MAATHI’s inaugural resortwear collection, inspired by the idea that places hold stories and that landscapes, journeys and shared moments become part of who we are.
This summer, MAATHI extended this exploration into fragrance with the global avant-première of Les Engrammes, its first fragrance collection, presented in Saint-Tropez ahead of its official launch in October.

Les Engrammes was created around a simple yet powerful idea. An engram is an imprint left within us after an experience. Something that remains long after the moment itself has disappeared. Each fragrance in the collection is created as an engram: a memory, a sensation, or a state of being.
Rather than asking only, “What does a fragrance smell like?”, MAATHI asks a different question: What does it awaken within you?
For the Saint-Tropez avant-première, MAATHI introduced Les Engrammes through a sensorial experience rooted in the same philosophy that shapes the maison: a connection between memory, material and place.
The fragrances were presented through handmade clay vessels created in Goa.

The name MAATHI means “earth” in Konkani, reflecting the maison’s connection to origin, nature and the raw materials that carry stories. Shaped by hand from the earth of Goa, these vessels became more than objects. They became a bridge between origin and experience, inviting people to reconnect with something elemental and discover fragrance through touch, emotion and memory.
There is something instinctive about holding earth in your hands. The texture, the weight and the imperfections create a moment of connection. Away from the polished surfaces often associated with luxury, clay brings fragrance back to something more fundamental: earth, craft and human touch. Because memories are not only the ones we consciously remember. Some are awakened unexpectedly.
A fragrance can bring back a forgotten summer. A texture can return us to a place we thought we had left behind. A scent can reveal a memory we did not know we were carrying. This is the world MAATHI seeks to explore.
Through The Sea Remembers, memories are held by places. Through Les Engrammes, memories are held within us.
Together, they form different expressions of the same belief: that the most meaningful experiences leave a trace.
The collection features four extraits de parfum, each exploring a different emotional landscape.

Quepem is the origin memory, inspired by summers in Goa, cashew trees, bare feet and the meeting of forest and sea.
Drowning explores surrender, trust, freedom and letting go; deeply connected with the philosophy of the brand: untamed looks good on you!
Gold Tears, I'll never forget you captures the memories that continue to glow long after they are gone.
Trace reflects the invisible imprint left behind.
With Les Engrammes, MAATHI invites fragrance to be experienced differently. Not simply as something we wear. But as something we feel, remember, and carry with us.
A fragrance collection created around what remains.
